How to Get It: French braid the first inch and a half of your hairline. Take it from ear to ear. Don’t make it too tight or you’ll have a massive headache all night long. Tip: Adding wax to your strands will make the look tight and smooth. Curl the ends of your locks for a little extra bounce.

Trend: Think rock star chic this prom season. Thanks to rocker girls like Gwen Stefani and Fergie, prom queens are going for a slightly edgier look. Teased sky-high bouffants and sleek asymmetrical buns and twirls are the ‘do du jour this prom.
How to Get It: Our stylist sectioned off the top and bottom of Mikel’s hair, slicked the back into a side bun, and accented it with three pinned swirls. The top part was smoothed out, rolled into a tight curl on the crown, and pinned for an exaggerated look. You’ll be a pure rock goddess!
